Program description

This is a teacher-certification program leading to Kansas licensure to teach grades 6-12 in history, civics/government, geography, economics, and sociology.

What can you do with this degree?

With a BSE in Social Sciences Education, you can teach American history, world history, Kansas history, civics and government, economics, geography, and sociology in middle and high schools.  Our job placement rate is excellent and our award-winning BSE alumni are teaching all over Kansas, other states, and the world!

Degree requirements

Graduate students working toward an Social Sciences Education degree will undertake intensive study of a particular era in history through readings seminars, research seminars, internships, and other coursework as appropriate, culminating in an original research project, examinations, or a pedagogy and content-based project.
