New members are inducted every semester at initiation ceremonies.

Initiation Ceremonies occur at the end of every semester and are a formal way to induct new members into Psi Chi and share a good meal with fellow Psi Chi members, officers and professors. Once inducted into Psi Chi a person is a member for life. New members are provided with a free meal and are encouraged to bring guests to the event. All guests and other members must pay a small 5 to 10 dollar fee for their meal. Aside from new member initiations, a highlight of the ceremony is the speaker who is a promnent member of the community and is often a Psi Chi member. Past speakers include Dr Tes Mehring, Vice-President and Provost of students affairs at ESU, Bill Persinger, director of the Mental Health Center of East Central Kansas, and Michael Lane, President of ESU. Initiation ceremonies are run by the current Psi Chi president and the ceremony at the end of the fall semester serves as a way to welcome new officers and is closed by the Psi Chi president-elect.
