What We’re All About

Our motto is “ADELANTE” or “moving forward”. We encourage high school students to continue their lives in higher education. We are also about “UNITY”. Unity within the members of HALO, and unity within the other organizations on campus, unity within the Emporia community to help eliminate stereotypes.

Our Purpose

We are here to emphasize and educate the cultural heritage, language, and traditions of Hispanic cultures to the students and faculty of Emporia State University and the people of the Emporia community; to motivate and counsel pre-college students towards furthering their education.

Who Do We Look For?

Any ESU student that wants to join an organization that makes a difference in the Hispanic community of Emporia; that wants to be part of a leadership organization that makes things happen; those that want the resources to assimilate to college life!

Membership Information

Any ESU student can join HALO for $10 a semester. As an active member, you will be able to attend all of our social events, attend our off campus events, the chance to participate in off-campus leadership conferences, run for an executive officer position, be part of the planning process for HALO’s operations, and much more!

To become a member print out the membership application, fill it out, and bring it to one of our meetings!

HALO & Community Service

We organize a number of community service events throughout the school year. Some of our past service events include the Hispanic Leadership Days at ESU, the “Si Se Puede” sessions, sponsor a school supplies collection drive for the 3rd graders at William Allen White Elementary School, and launch a pen-pal program with the 4th graders at Riverside Elementary School.

Where To Find Us!

We are located in the Center for Student Involvement office in the memorial union. For more information about HALO, email us at haloesu@gmail.com.
