March 15, 2020: Phone Screening Information from Flint Hills Community Health Center
Communication from Flint Hills Community Health Center
March 15, 2020
Dear Emporia Campus Community,
As faculty, additional staff and some students return to the Emporia campus in the coming days, some have asked whether their travels require them to stay home. The information below will be added to the FAQs on the ESU COVID-19 website.
How do I determine if I need to self-isolate due to my travels or feeling ill?
The Flint Hills Community Health Center is providing screening by telephone for individuals who have traveled to areas with incidences of COVID-19 and who are feeling ill, or individuals who have traveled to areas with incidences of COVID-19 and work with populations who are particularly susceptible to complications associated with COVID-19. The Flint Hills Community Health Center is asking anyone concerned to call 620-208-3741 rather than their main number. This is their COVID-19 hotline.
This screening allows our public health partners to advise individuals on whether they should seek further evaluation. Flint Hills Community Health Center will provide appropriate guidance upon completion of the screening.
Online screening is being developed and will be distributed publicly once the website is ready.
What providers are currently testing for COVID-19?
Currently, the only lab in Kansas that can run COVID-19 testing is Kansas Health and Environment Laboratory (KHEL).
A reminder — we will continue to communicate new or revised information to our campus community through email and update the information on the ESU COVID-19 website. We also will share on social media. Occasionally, we will use RAVE to alert you to a new message.
