Jim Bartruff became Director of Theatre in 2004. A 33-year veteran of academic theater, he also taught in and directed theatre programs at Carroll College, the University of Montana and Moorhead State University. He is listed in the 2009 edition of Who's Who in America®. In 2001, he was named Minnesota Professor of the Year. Jim earned a degree in speech and theatre from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, his master's from the University of Oregon and an MFA in directing from the University of Montana. Besides teaching and directing, he writes plays and is an avid baseball fan. His recent ESU Theatre credits include Are We There Yet?, The Rocky Horror Show, Suds, The Glass Menagerie, Rabbit Hole, I Love You Because, Little Shop of Horrors and The Tempest. He represented Region V of the Amerian College Theatre Festival at the Kennedy Center as a Faculty Fellow in Directing.
