Emporia State Basic Needs Coalition

Going hungry doesn’t have to be your normal. Neither does worrying about where you’ll sleep tonight or if you can afford to pay your bills.

ESU is here to help every Hornet be safer, healthier and more successful. So whether you need help locating affordable housing, want to find financial resources or need some pantry staples to get you to your next meal, Emporia State is here for you.

Who we are

The Basic Needs Coalition is a group of students, faculty, staff and community members who work together to ensure all Hornets have access to sufficient food, housing, mental and physical health services and financial resources to succeed inside and outside the classroom.

Find resources for affordable housing, financial support and food assistance.

Basic Needs Emergency Fund

The Basic Needs Emergency Fund was created to help students with financial assistance in a serious time of need. This fund is intended to be a supplemental financial resource when students are unable to meet immediate and essential expenses because of a temporary hardship surrounding situations such as accidents, illness, death of a family member, fire damage or need for temporary housing. This funding is not intended to replace or supplement existing financial aid and does not have to be repaid. To apply for this financial assistance please fill out this application.

Employees who would like to contribute to the new Basic Needs Emergency Fund can submit online or enroll in automatic payroll deduction (choose Corky’s Cupboard). Support for Corky’s Cupboard includes both supplies and the emergency fund.
