English, Modern Languages, and Journalism

At Emporia State, the Department of English, Modern Languages, and Journalism honors its long-standing tradition of student support and interaction with its outstanding faculty by providing a variety of educational programs for students at all levels.

This department has two primary goals: to teach you to write clearly and effectively and to help you develop an understanding of language and literature and the ways in which they inform our lives.

To reach these goals, we offer the best from our introductory coursework and undergraduate programs to specialized coursework, graduate programs, and professional degrees. In addition, students are provided with numerous opportunities for involvement and professional experience through several publications and student organizations.
