Biographical/Historical note

Myrtle Berges was born on March 20, 1904, near Duluth, Kansas, to Henry W. and Pauline Kolterman Berges. She attended Kansas State Normal School at Emporia Kansas, then returned to her parents house, where she lived until her marriage to Christian Valburg, a widower with four grown children. They were married on December 18, 1960, and moved to a farm northeast of Duluth. Christian passed away on April 22, 1963. Myrtle Berges Valburg passed away in Onaga, Kansas, on February 12, 2002.
