Scope and Contents note

The collection consists of two notebooks that include lesson plans and daily activities dated September 7, 1897 to October 29, 1897, and December 8, 1897 to January 26, 1898 respectively. Documentation points to Maude being an observer under Sadie Louise Montgomery at the Kansas State Normal School in Emporia, Kansas, along with other teachers. Sadie Louise Montgomery started as the lead instructor for the school in 1893. A photograph included in the collection contains all the teachers and observers of the model school at the time of Maude’s attendance. Maude’s married name is written on it - Maude Kibler-Rasher. The photographer is SH Waite, Emporia, Kansas. Also found in the collection are an assignment book of drawings and geometry with numbered pages, along with handwritten song sheets, and a handwritten draft of a term paper titled “A Woman’s Place in History.” The last two items, formerly part of the general Normaliana collection, included a Kansas State Normal School diploma and a hand decorated song sheet. Both items are missing from the collection.
