Biographical Note

Margaret Sue Denniston attended Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia from 1954-1958. As a student she was very active in campus theater productions, acting or serving on the crew of at least 12 plays. Her experience included helping with costumes and make-up, being a sound technician, assistant electrician, stage manager, and house manager. Margaret was also active in the Emporia State Players organization and served as secretary in 1956 and as historian in 1961. She graduated in May, 1958, with two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and a Bachelor of Science in Education for Speech and Social Science. Based upon her continued activity in the theater arts, she may have continued her education at Kansas State Teachers College through 1961.

Margaret was also very active in Summer Theater productions, which began in 1955. She served on the crews of at least 12 productions as a crew chief, stage manager, or in the box office. Emporia State University’s annual variety show, Curli-Q, was another venue for her talents. Margaret participated in the 1954, 1955, 1956, and 1960 shows as an actress, crew member, and stage manager.
