Fossilization Display
Near the displays of Cretaceous fossils is a display
illustrating the types of material that can be fossilized and examples
of different types of fossilization. These include carbonization, permineralization,
recrystallization, replacement and preservation of unatlered hard parts.
Fossils may be found as imprints, casts, or molds. Another type of fossil
displayed here is the trace fossil, which is not a record of the animal
or plant's actual body, but instead, a fossilized record of tracks, burrows,
bore holes or trails.
