What a defined site looks like

Define a New Site
Open Dreamweaver and select Site > New Site as shown below.

Insert Local Information
Make sure the Advanced tab is selected.
Select Local Info as the Category.
Site Name: Enter the name of your department
Local Root Folder: Select the folder in which the department site will reside on your computer. This folder may be located on the C: drive
Create a folder titled Web
Create a folder within the Web folder and title it the title of your web directory. Example, if the URL for your department is http://www.emporia.edu/pam/ your web directory is titled pam.


Insert Remote Information
Make sure the Advanced tab is selected.
Select Remote Info as the Category.
Access: Select FTP
FTP Host: Enter www.emporia.edu
Host Directory (for departmental Web sites): Enter the Web path for your directory.
Example, if the URL for your department is http://www.emporia.edu/pam/ the host directory is /web/pam/.

Host Directory (for personal Web sites): Enter the Web path for your directory.
Example, if the URL for your department is http://www.emporia.edu/~user/ the host directory is /home/user/public_html.

Login and Password: You need to fill out the appropriate contract at http://www.emporia.edu/web/ for your login and password assignment.

Click Okay. The site is now defined.


View your defined site. In Dreamweaver MX the site and it’s files are displayed under the files tab.
