Q. What is Contribute?

A. Contribute software eases the web content maintenance process. This software combines the features of a web browser like Internet Explorer, with the capabilities and ease of Microsoft Word. The Office of Web Development provides this software free-of-charge to all departments using the university template.

Q. Why should I use contribute?

A. Contribute software is recommended for use because it gives the user an easy-to-manage user interface, and allows more complex functions, at greater ease.

Q. How do I get contribute?

A. Please contact the Office of Web Development at 620-341-5454 or email the University Webmaster at webmaster@emporia.edu.

Q. How do I change the links on the side?

A. In order to change the links on the side you would have to contact us at 620-341-5454 or email the University Webmaster at webmaster@emporia.edu.

Q. How do I put my webpages on the web?

A. From the file you are editing; click “Publish”

Q. It says “cannot edit this page” why?

A. This means either that someone else is editing your web site, or that you do not have permission to update the page you are on. If this happens, please contact the Office of Web Development at webgrad@emporia.edu.

Q. It says it cannot connect to the server, why?

A. This means that there is an error with the connection settings. Please contact the Office of Web Development at webgrad@emporia.edu for assistance.

Once saved, inside of Contribute in the edit page section, click on the set of text where you want your PDF linked. Click on insert link (at the top) and navigate to “Insert file from my computer”. Click on your PDF file and when you publish your page, your PDF file will be automatically uploaded.

A. It is not possible to edit dynamic data, including forms, from Contribute. Please contact the Office of Web Development at webgrad@emporia.edu if you have any forms that need edited.
