Thirty rising 7th and 8th graders participated in a two day summer program in Wichita, KS, June 14-15. This summer program, while short, was packed with fun activities and opportunities to learn about educational institutions in Wichita. Visits to Wichita State University and the National Center for Aviation Training were both informative and fun. We did some fun, informative activities as well. The Tanganyika Wildlife Park allowed us to pet the lemurs, the Old Cowtown Museum showed us what life was like in the old cow town days, and the Crown Uptown Theatre provided evening entertainment. Swimming, a fabu-lous hotel, friends, and good food rounded out this summer trip.
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! The freshmen and sopho-mores saw all these and a lot more this summer as we breezed through Chicago. This 4 night, 5 day adventure included 29 students from Emporia, Atchison and Leavenworth. The purpose of the Chicago trip was for our ETS students to spread their wings and see what’s beyond our local horizon. We had three campus visits: Lindenwood University in Missouri, Columbia College-Chicago and University of Iowa. In Chicago we took in as much as we could put into three days!
