Winners of SBA Scholarship

Runners Up for SBA Scholarship

     Kristina Bramwell, Taylor Relph and Elissa Hadley received special recognition awards at the Susan B. Anthony Award Ceremony on March 7, 2008 for their dedication to helping women on the ESU campus.

SUSAN B. ANTHONY SCHOLARSHIP

The Gender Program is pleased to announce that the Susan B. Anthony Scholarship is available annually . This scholarship was increased from $1000 to $1200 this year and is awarded to the junior student (male or female) who best satisfies the following requirement.

  • The applicant who has demonstrated the greatest or most beneficial input to the growth and education of women on the Emporia State University campus.
  • The applicant who has demonstrated excellence in scholarship (i.e., grade point avaerage and academic honors).
  • The applicant who shows financial need.
  • Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Center, 211 South Morse Hall in February 2009. We encourage anyone to apply and invite everyone to attend the awards ceremony in March 2009.

 

Dr. Jan Wheeler

     Dr. Jan Wheeler, former counselor at the ESU Counseling Center, presents at the Award Ceremony on March 7, 2008.  Dr. Wheeler is currently in private practice in Columbia, Missouri.

Dr. Mary F. Headrick Award

Dr. Mary Headrick was a counselor in the ESU Counseling Center for 27 years. During this time, she was known for her tireless efforts to ESU and in the Emporia Community for helping women reach their full potential.  The Dr. Mary F. Headrick Award is designed for those who go the extra mile, making a long-term commitment to promoting the growth of women in our schools and community.  Nonimatations are accepted every year during the first part of February.  The Award Ceremony is combined with the Susan B. Anthony Scholarship Award Ceremony and is held annually during March.  This year's recipient was Ms. Ann Birney.

Aneta Bodkin, Assistant Director of Student Wellness - Counseling, administers The Gender Program. Aneta graduated from Emporia State University with a B.S. in Psychology and a M.S. in Counselor Education. She also graduated from Washburn University with a Masters in Social Work.
