Theresa Mitchell |
| Theresa Mitchell is a native Kansan who was lived and worked across the country before deciding it was time to return "home". She joined the ESU faculty in 1999 as an Associate Professor. Theresa earned a Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Directing from the University of Utah (1984) and a Master of Arts in Acting and Directing from the University of Kansas (1979). In addition to Kansas and Utah, Theresa has worked at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire, Arkansas State University, Kent State University in Ohio, and The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University in Missouri. Some of her favorite directing projects have been The Boy Friend, Little Shop of Horrors, Working, Hippolytus, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Beehive!, Lend Me A Tenor, and The Sound of Music. Theresa's special area of interest is movement for actors and she is the author of Movement: From Person to Actor to Character. She regularly teaches Acting I, Acting II, and Movement classes. Her most recent ESU Theatre credits include The Importance of Being Earnest, Bus Stop, Urinetown and Noises Off. She received the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Directing Citation for her direction of William Ball's Five Women Wearing the Same Dress.
