Susan J. Mai

Susan J. Mai photoSusan J Mai is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Theatre at Emporia State University. Susan has received both the Liberal Arts and Sciences, Research Award and Service Award, also the Xi Phi Outstanding Faculty Award. She has designed costumes for the award winning production, The Voice of the Prairie,which preformed at the Kennedy Center for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival. She has received the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival Meritorious Achievement awards in costume and makeup design for The Abdication, Guys and Dolls, Marvin's Room, The American Dream, The Philadelphia Story, The Last Night of Ballyhoo,and The Matchmaker. Susan also designed costumes at the New Theatre in Overland Park, for Biloxi Blues and Harvey (with Don Knotts). Her most recent design credits include Footloose!, The Importance of Being Earnest, Urinetown, Arms and the Man and The Lion in Winter. A native of western Kansas, Susan holds a B.A. from Fort Hays State University, an M.A. from Emporia State University and an M.F.A. from the University of Montana.
