Theresa Mitchell

Professor Theresa Mitchell Theresa Mitchell is a native Kansan who was lived and worked across the country before deciding it was time to return "home.”  Professor Mitchell earned a Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Directing from the University of Utah (1984) and a Master of Arts in Acting and Directing from the University of Kansas (1979). In addition to Kansas and Utah, Theresa has taught at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire, Arkansas State University, Kent State University in Ohio, and The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University in Missouri. Some of her favorite directing projects have been The Little Shop of Horrors, Barefoot in the Park, Funny Money Lysistrata, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Beehive!, Lend Me A Tenor, and Cabaret. Theresa's special area of interest is movement for actors and she is the author of Movement: From Person to Actor to Character. She regularly teaches Acting I, Acting II, and Movement for Actors classes. Her most recent ESU Theatre credits include The Ladies Man, Barefoot in the Park, You Can't Take It With You and The Diviners. She received the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Directing Citation for her direction of William Ball's Five Women Wearing the Same Dress.
