Jim Bartruff
Jim Bartruff became Director of Theatre in 2004. A 35-year veteran of academic theater, he also taught in and directed theatre programs at Carroll College, the University of Montana and Moorhead State University. He received the 2012 Golden Medallion from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. He was the 2009 Road Warrior for Region V and represented the region at the Kennedy Center in 2010 as a Faculty Fellow in Directing. He was the 2001 Minnesota Professor of the Year. Jim earned a degree in speech and theatre from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, his master's from the University of Oregon and an MFA in directing from the University of Montana. Besides teaching and directing, he writes plays and is an avid baseball fan. His recent ESU Theatre credits include Guys and Dolls, U:BUG:ME, Dearly Beloved, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Monster Under the Bed, I Love to Tell the Story, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Are We There Yet?, The Rocky Horror Show, Suds, The Glass Menagerie and Rabbit Hole.
