Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
The need for professionals in the field of TESOL continues to grow exponentially both nationally and internationally. These professionals are needed in so many sectors, especially the field of education (both in the public school systems as well as community colleges and universities).
Emporia State’s TESOL program prepares candidates to serve this increasing need for Teaching English as a Second and/or Foreign Language nationally at college, university, and public school level as well as internationally in private and public institutions world-wide.
A master’s degree in TESOL focuses on providing the knowledge and skills needed to teach English to speakers of other languages through studying specialized methods and techniques in TESOL and Applied Linguistics.
Emporia State's TESOL program is located in Visser Hall, located off of Merchant Street between 18th Avenue and 15th Avenue, with its main entrance on the east side. The three story, dark brick and concrete building houses four of the six departments of The Teachers College.
The offices for the TESOL program are within the Department of Instructional Design & Technology/TESOL and are located on the third floor.
Metered parking is available in the parking lot immediately to the west of Visser Hall. Campus map >
