Kansas Criminal Background Clearance For Kansas Licensure
A background check is required of any applicant for a Kansas license or any applicant who may have previously held a Kansas license but whose license has expired.
The KSDE fingerprint packet is available to pick up from ESU in Visser Hall, Room 208, the Office of Field Placement and Licensure (formerly the Office of Professional Education Services)
You may request a fingerprint packet to be mailed to you by filling out the Order Fingerprint Card form on KSDE's website: www.ksde.org >Teaching & Learning, under Teachers >Fingerprint Cards. Follow the included instructions when received.
Questions should be directed to the Kansas State Dept. of Education (KSDE) Teacher Licensure and Accreditation - 785-291-3678. The ESU Licensure Officer can provide limited information about this process and is always willing to help!
ESU students: Be aware the fee for the KS Criminal Background Check is currently $50, paid to KSDE with your fingerprint card. This is a separate fee from the license application fee! For advice regarding when you should be fingerprinted, please contact the ESU Licensure Officer, Shannon Hall, at 620-341-5412 or firstname.lastname@example.org
