Dr. Steve Neill directs the Office of Professional Education Services. He has been a faculty member at ESU since 2002. Dr. Neill oversees the field assignments for students in ED/EL 220, Phase I internship, student teaching, and several graduate programs and assigns faculty supervisors for student teaching. Mrs. Shannon Hall is the Teacher Licensing Officer. Mrs. Hall has been the Teacher Licensing Officer since 2006. Prior to working at ESU, she served as a Licensure Consultant at the Kansas State Department of Education. She works with pre-service teachers, who complete the teacher education program, and in-service teachers, who complete requirements for additional teaching fields.In addition, she works closely with the Alternative Route Director to help candidates apply for the Restricted License. These responsibilities require her to know all teacher education programs at ESU as well as the procedures to be eligible for a Kansas teaching license. Mrs. Cheryl Protheroe is the Administrative Specialist in OPES. She served in this position since 1993. Cheryl assists with student teaching placements, arranges practicum placements, and manages funding and payments to cooperating teachers and students as appropriate. Mrs. Gwen Eidman is the Family Literacy Program Coordinator. She works with tutors in this program as well as supervises student teachers.
