Mrs. Luana Bitter's educational philosophy draws from the outdoor experiences of her childhood. She fondly remembers hunting and fishing trips with her family and her 18-year involvement with Girl Scouts.
Quoting from a favorite hymn, Mrs. Bitter says, "I believe in teaching real-life concepts to my students to open their minds to 'all things bright and beautiful,' and I believe in respecting the diversity of my students and developing the unique talents of each individual. . . .to challenge students to move toward their greatest potentials and to be, like nature, positive forces in the world."
Mrs. Bitter is active in the Red Cross, Humane Society, 4-H Horse Club and Pratt County Fair Association. She is also the district director for the Kansas Junior Academy of Science, coordinating the local competition and taking students to the state competition each year.

During the performance of her duties, Mrs. Bitter always demonstrates the highest level of educational commitment and enthusiasm. In her classroom you will find students learning with varied and exciting methods of instruction. She involves her students in numerous activities which stimulate their interest in subjects being covered. She works diligently to promote hands on science activities for students."
Aubrey Manes, a sophomore attending Pratt High School states, "I cannot say enough good things about Mrs. Bitter and what she has done for me personally. Whatever she does, she puts all her heart into it. I have had the privilege of being taught and coached by this outstanding woman who had dedicated her life to the development of students. All teachers should be just like her, with as much passion and love for what they do."
A parent, Kim Garrett writes, "Excitement, wonder, dedication and desire. Qualities of a master. Qualities of 'nothing is impossible' Lu. Lu is indeed a positive influence in the life of my daughter and the lives of many other students at Pratt High School. She is, in my opinion, worthy of the honor and recognition of Master Teacher.
