QUESTIONS RELATED TO NOT GETTING A TEACHING OR SCHOOL SPECIALIST POSITION
What happens if I cannot obtain a teaching or school specialist position? You will be held in the program until you secure a contract to teach or be a school specialist. You will not need to reapply but may have to update your records. At this time you could also take classes for the Master of Education in Teaching (MEd) if you've chosen to obtain that degree.
Is there another option for getting my initial license? Yes, if you don't secure a job the first fall you can enter the Post Baccalaureate for Alternate Route Program. This is a different program and requires another transcript review to determine if you have all the general education courses and educational psychology. It also requires that you take a content methods class and student teach. Upon completion of this program and student teaching, you can apply for your initial teaching license.
