Message from the Vice President for Student Affairs

James Williams, Vice President for Student Affairs

I am pleased to welcome you to the 2007-2008 academic year. Your education and personal development as students, leaders, and citizens are central to the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and Emporia State University. As a group of dedicated individuals, the Student Affairs professionals are committed to working with you in achieving your ultimate educational goal: graduation!

In speaking with students who are completing their education, they often talk about how they have benefited from the many opportunities to participate in

both the classroom and out-of-classroom activities. As

you look through this publication, consider looking into one of the many different and unique student organizations offered at Emporia State University.

ESU offers a wide variety of resources to assist you in achieving your goals. This handbook lists many of those resources. However, our most important resource is our people. I encourage you to speak with any of your faculty, your Resident Assistant, or any member of the University staff when you have questions. If you are not sure where to go, come to my office in 205 Plumb Hall, call 341-5267, or e-mail me at jwilliam@emporia.edu. I, as well as the Division of Student Affairs staff, look forward to working with you to assist you in connecting with the right person to achieve your educational goal of graduation!

I wish you success and look forward to serving you.

Dr. James E. Williams

Vice President for Student Affairs
