National Teachers Hall of Fame
The National Teachers Hall of Fame (NTHF) was founded by university and community officials in 1989 as a tribute to our nation’s most important profession - teaching. The Hall of Fame is committed to drawing the public’s attention to exceptional teachers and the teaching profession through a museum and a recognition program that honors five of the nation’s most outstanding Pre K-12 educators each year.
The mission of the National Teachers Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor exceptional career teachers, encourage excellence in teaching, and preserve the rich heritage of the teaching profession in the United States.
Located in 115 Visser Hall, the Hall of Fame includes a gallery of honored teachers, a Wall of Fame, a miniatures display of classrooms through the centuries, an antique book collection, and other glimpses of our educational heritage. The Hall of Fame is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on holidays.
A national selection committee representing educational organizations, NTHF membership, and corporate America considers nominations from a pool of certified public or non-public teachers, active or retired, who have at least 20 years of full-time experience teaching in grades Pre K-12. Individuals may obtain a nomination form by visiting the Hall of Fame website, <www.nthf.org>, or by phone, 1-800-96TEACH, or 341-9131.
