ROSE MACGILLIGAN MCATEER

Rose's life was one of extreme isolation. She grew up on a sheep station, hundreds of miles from her nearest neighbor. Then she married a sheep rancher named Rufus McAteer, and lived hundreds of miles from her family. To make matters worse, Rufus drank too much, and beat Rose viciously. A few years after her marriage, she was found in one of the out buildings. She had hung herself from one of the rafters.
