When Jeremiah reached adulthood, he left Siglo County and went to Belfast. Jeremiah was able to get a job working in the shipyards. Living in the slums of Belfast, Jeremiah met a nice girl named Molly O'Rourke whom he married. Unfortunately, Molly died along with her son in childbirth. The heart broken Jeremiah spent the rest of his short life drinking, until ceraceous of the liver finally caught up with him.
