Bachelor of Science in Sociology
The Bachelor of Science degree in sociology is designed to provide a student with in-depth academic preparation in the field of sociology. The B.S. degree is designed primarily for those students who intend to pursue careers in criminal justice, social service, law enforcement, government agencies, and other related fields, or who want more extensive preparation in the discipline of sociology for advanced degree programs. Students pursuing the B.S. degree in sociology are required to complete 45 hours in Sociology. All students working toward the BS degree in sociology are required to complete a 21-hour "Required Core" in sociology and an additional 24 hours in sociology and/or anthropology courses. Students must earn a GPA of 2.0 or better in the major.

In order to graduate, all sociology majors must earn a grade of at least "C" in all courses that will be applied to their major.
Combination of AN or SO courses (l00 level or above) may apply 24 hours
Total 45 hours
*No more than a total of 6 hours of AN471, SO471, SO472 and SO473 may be taken toward the major.
*A minimum of 21 semester hours toward the major must be completed at ESU.
