Lyon County History Center

What: The Lyon County History Center is hosting an event for the Cubs Scouts (kindergarten – 5th grade).  Volunteers are needed to help with: a talk on preservation and retirement of flags; a scavenger hunt; and personal history which is a talk on easy information available in the archives (yearbooks, telephone books, newspapers)!

When: Friday, April 7th from 6-8pm

The SCALA Colorado Spring Library Tours have been finalized!

Join us for the Denver, CO Library Tour Day on Saturday, April 22nd.  We’ll visit the Denver Women’s Correctional Facility (DWCF) Library, the Stephen H. Hart Library & Research Center at History Colorado, and the Central Branch of Denver Public Library.   Sign up for the Colorado tour here.

OB4CO

What: Like donuts?  Interested in meeting other early literacy advocates?  Help support Colorado families reading together and get a book into the hand of every 4-year old by volunteering at One Book 4 Colorado!  Help with counting, packaging, stickering, and labeling OB4CO books and bookmarks.  Consider dropping a donation box off at a nearby preschool!

When: 9AM-Noon, Wednesday March 29th (can volunteer for shorter shifts)

Alumni News

Congratulations, Anne Liebst!

Anne Liebst, an alumna of the School of Library and Information Management at Emporia State University, has been named the new director of library services at University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.

As director of UAFS library services, Liebst will oversee the planning, implementing, directing and evaluating of all services provided by the library. Additionally, she will develop, manage and maintain the library’s print and non-print collections supporting the academic and research programs of the university, develop policies, procedures and evaluation strategies for building and managing collections, while strategically analyzing the needs of the student body.

Before taking on the role of library director at UAFS, Liebst worked as the discovery and access coordinator for the Ottenheimer Library at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she provided vision and leadership for discovery and access to library and archive materials, assisted in developing and maintaining vision, strategy, policies and standards, and collaborated with colleagues at UALR to ensure a responsive, leading-edge digital library program.
