Pre-Pharmacy

Pharmacists are medical professionals who distribute drugs and pharmaceuticals to people in community settings such as a retail drugstore, a healthcare facility such as a hospital or nursing home, and increasingly, in department stores with pharmacy departments. They also advise patients, physicians and other health practitioners on various aspects of medications, including the effects of varying dosages, interactions and side effects of the drugs selected. There are shortages of pharmacists in many parts of the country, primarily due to the fact that demand for these professionals has outpaced the ability of pharmacy schools to produce enough graduates to meet the increasing needs of an aging population. Accordingly, demand is expected to continue to make employment prospects very attractive for years to come.
