If you like to write, and want to know how to turn your gift into a valuable skill, you should explore the opportunities available with a major in English. A degree in English will teach you to write clearly and effectively and will help you develop an understanding of language and literature and the ways in which they inform us and transform our lives. Opportunities on campus allow students to perfect their work in English and journalism through publications including Quivira, the campus literary magazine; Sunflower, the campus yearbook; and The Bulletin, the Emporia State University campus newspaper.

  • Undergraduate students majoring in English or other fields may also elect to focus on creative writing and choose from several courses in fiction, poetry, and even screenwriting.
