ESU's Teachers College offers a comprehensive and challenging elementary education program for you, the talented student wanting to guide tomorrow's leaders and to seek a career that offers personal satisfaction and continuous growth. A key feature of the ESU Elementary Education program is an internship in the two-semester Professional Development School. Skills learned in the methods classes can be put into use immediately in the student intern's elementary school classroom. ESU graduates are in extremely high demand and are valued teachers in school districts all across the Midwest.

Quick Facts

  • As an elementary education major, you gain valuable real-world teaching experience by observing children in the classroom, participating in group teaching, conducting reading instruction, and immersing yourself in the Professional Development School during your senior year. The Teacher Work Sample provides a performance assessment of your ability to plan, implement, and assess instruction.
  • ESU's Elementary Education degree program is a nationally recognized teacher education program with classes taught by exceptional professors who are recognized for teaching excellence.
  • Currently, Professional Development School sites are located in the Emporia area, the Kansas City area, Topeka, & Butler County.
  • Partnership programs with Butler Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College allow students to complete the ESU elementary program in Butler County or Kansas City.
