On December 4, 2014, you had the opportunity to learn about the new Classification and Compensation Study Emporia State University is partnering with CBIZ Human Capital Services (for those of you that weren’t able to attend, watch for the video of the presentation that will be coming out in the near future in SkyBox!).

We are prepared to begin the first step of the study, and it requires your input! We need you to update or complete a comprehensive position description (the document is title Job Analysis Questionnaire or J.A.Q.) and submit it to your supervisor no later than January 16, 2015. Your supervisor will then review the form and send it on to Human Resources no later than January 23, 2015. On average it takes about 45 minutes to complete the JAQ. The time you spend on the questionnaire is work time, so if you are working on it at home or outside of your normal work hours, please be sure you have obtained your supervisor’s permission first! This form is a fillable PDF. You can save the form and come back to it as you need to. Please be sure to save it to your Y:/ drive as you prepare it for your supervisor. This process will replace our standard end of the year position description updates or reclassification requests. Supervisors will receive further instructions on next steps of the process early next week.  Information needed to complete the form was emailed to you.

You will notice the form is quite long, but don’t fear! We are working on reserving electronic classrooms to have someone available to answer questions and guide you on completing the form. Please keep in mind we have around 475 employees affected by this study, and space is limited so if you are interested in assistance, you will want to work with your supervisor on attending one of the help sessions. In fact, we already have three scheduled!

  • Friday, December 19, Room 209 William Allen White Library from Noon until 2 pm (the session is at your own pace, so make sure you are giving yourself at least 45 minutes to complete the form!)
  • Monday, December 22, Room 209 William Allen White Library from 9 am until 11 am
  • Tuesday, December 23, Room 209 William Allen White Library from 1pm until 3 pm.
