Energize your alumni experience
A letter from the ESU alumni association president
Some of the best
years of my life
happened as a student
at Emporia State
University. Coming
from a small Kansas
town, ESU provided
so many different
opportunities for
growth as well as a
place where I made
memories that will
last a lifetime. Since
earning my second ESU degree in 1998, I have
remained a loyal and proud alum. I regularly
visit our ESU website where I’ve found some
enlightening words that are appropriate in
describing ESU alumni.

Enthusiasm & Energy — As ESU alumni, you are among more than 50,000 people holding an Emporia State University degree. ESU alumni share a passion and enthusiasm for their alma mater that I find inspiring. I love to come to an ESU home football game and see all the black and gold and tailgating in anticipation for the game. What spirit!
Encourage & Empower — Take time in
your community to point potential students
toward ESU. Encourage and empower them to
check out the campus, academic programs and
the Emporia community. Get involved with
your local START (Students Through Alumni
Recruitment Teams) program, visit ESU alumni
teaching in your area, or find those special ways
to move students in the right direction toward
ESU.
Elevate & Enhance — There are so many
ways as alumni to continue to elevate and
enhance Emporia State. Consider giving to
Building Blocks for Success, the scholarship
campaign for students, or to an area on campus
you hold close to your heart. Find ways to give
back to campus by serving on the Alumni Board
of Directors or being involved in your local
alumni chapter. Better yet, START an alumni
chapter in your area!
Explore & Envision — Take time to explore
and envision the many ways you can remain
involved as proud alumni by giving back to the
university that helped you get where you are
today. There are so many things to be proud
of as well as various “hidden” aspects of the
university that we can still learn about today.
I encourage each of you to embrace ESU,
no matter how long it’s been since you walked
the campus as a student. Giving back to ESU
will help the campus excel, and it will also
enrich your life more than you can imagine.
I am so fortunate to serve as your Alumni
Association president this year — it has been
the opportunity of a lifetime. My wish for all
ESU alumni is to have that feeling one gets
by being part of something so powerful and
contagious, a feeling that leads you right back
to the heart of what started it... Emporia State
University!
ESU always,
Kelly (Emig) Mobray (BFA 1996, MS 1998)
