Reception tomorrow for Roy Mann
Emporia State University will say farewell to its outgoing alumni director, Roy Mann, at a campus and community reception from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Sauder Alumni Center. A short program will begin at approximately 3:15.
Join us as we celebrate Roy’s unparalleled dedication to ESU. Mann, who served as the alumni director since 1995 and first came to ESU as an assistant director of endowment in 1988, will begin a new position on May 1 as a senior development officer with the Provision Ministry Group, an international organization dedicated to church planting.
It’s an understatement to say we will miss him dearly. How do we cope? Laughter. The Advancement office roasted Roy last week, and you’ll find some pictures below!
There’s also the monumental task of finding the right person to be our new director of alumni relations, and the search is already under way. You can help – if you feel that you, or someone you know, would fit the bill, take a look at the job description on the ESU website by clicking here.
ESU baseball’s winning streak sets MIAA record
Perfect in league play. Hasn’t lost in over a month. Blowout after blowout.
It all adds up to an MIAA-record 29-game winning streak for the #5 ESU baseball team. The last three wins were typical – over the weekend, the Hornets beat Missouri Southern three times by a combined score of 37-5. The only letdown, if you can call it that, was Brian Majors’ 29-game hitting streak coming to an end.
The Hornets, at 36-3 overall and 21-0 in league play, play at 4 p.m. today at Pittsburg State. Meanwhile, you can hear Coach Bob Fornelli talk about the streak in a video by the Emporia Gazette. Click here to read more on the team

Join us for a 5K run or a 2-mile walk on the 19th, and then stay for the reception afterward at the Sauder Alumni Center. For more information and a registration form, click here.
