ESU announces the largest single gift in university history
Behind an amazing gift from the late Martha Kruse Furbur is a simple story of saving and frugal living, leading to the largest single gift in the history of Emporia State University. Mrs. Furbur left $1.875 million to ESU to support student scholarships in the School of Library and Information Management (SLIM), honoring her alma mater and providing for students in perpetuity. Football drops second straight game
Emporia State fell behind 14-0 midway through the first half on the way to a 42-19 loss at Missouri Southern on Saturday night. The Hornets actually out-gained the Lions 208 yards to 172 yards in the second half and ended the game with 334 yards of total offense.
The loss is the Hornets’ second in as many weeks, following three victories to open the season. On Sept. 22, the team went to Fort Hays State and fell 26-12. Three turnovers offset Seville Ko’s 105 rushing yards and one touchdown. The Hornets are back in action on Saturday, when they host the University of Central Missouri at 1 p.m. at Welch Stadium.
