Show your support for ESU while contributing to ESU's general academic scholarship fund by supporting an ESU Corky license plate on your truck or car! For an annual donation of $35 to the student scholarship fund, you can take Corky - and your Hornet pride - with you everywhere you go.
Your annual donation not only gives you access to the ESU plate, it helps us raise over $17,000 annually for student scholarships. These scholarship dollars are disbursed the following year to new students.

Sporting an ESU Corky license plate is an easy way to contribute annually to ESU's general academic scholarship fund. When you pay your annual $35 royalty fee to the ESU Foundation, your $35 will be added to ESU's general academic scholarship fund. There has never been a better way to show your Hornet pride and at the same time invest in the future of Emporia State University students.
Who qualifies for an ESU Corky license plate?
All ESU alumni, students, parents, fans, and friends are
eligible to apply for an ESU Corky license plate if you meet
the following criteria:
- you own or lease a vehicle registered in Kansas and
- your vehicle is a passenger vehicle or truck or your vehicle has a gross weight of 12,000, 16,000, or 20,000 pounds.
How do I order my license plate?
1. Return the completed application, along with your tax-deductible payment of $35 for each plate requested to:

2. The ESU Foundation will issue you a gift receipt and eligibility certificate.
3. Take the eligibility certificate from the ESU Foundation to your county treasurer to obtain your ESU Corky license plate.
*In addition to the $35 annual payment to the ESU Foundation, you are responsible for the personalized plate fees and any fees associated with the registration of your vehicle(s).
State fees include: $40 personalized plate fee (paid every five years), $5 plate manufacturing fee (paid only once), and $.50 reflectorized fee (paid only once).
How do I renew my license plate?
Approximately 60 days before your annual tag renewal due date, the ESU Foundation will send you a vehicle verification form and notice to pay your annual tax-deductible $35 fee for each vehicle sporting the ESU Corky license plate. Once your payment is received, the ESU Foundation will send you an eligibility certificate, which you'll take to the county treasurer when you pay your other vehicle registration fees.
Can I personalize my ESU Corky license plate?
Plate numbers are produced consecutively and issued randomly. The State of Kansas does not allow personalization of educational license plates and does not honor requests for specific plate numbers.
Can I have an ESU Corky license plate
for my motorcycle?
Sorry, only vehicles listed under "Who qualifies for an ESU Corky license plate?" may apply for the plate.
