University Advancement
Welcome to University Advancement! Our purpose is right there in the title: to advance the mission of Emporia State University by building relationships through the Alumni Association and the Foundation.
This office works hand in hand with the university, striving to complement the amazing efforts of our students, faculty, administration, alumni and friends. Once a Hornet, always a Hornet, the Alumni Association is a connection point for a lifelong affection for ESU. The Foundation is a connection point between the university’s many needs and the generosity of the Hornet faithful.
The 58,000-plus alumni and friends of ESU advance the university's cause every day by representing ESU in communities around the world. It’s a diverse group, one the Alumni Association keeps informed of news and events on our website; the biweekly e-mail newsletter, Hornet News Update; and our biannual alumni magazine, the Spotlight. The association and its many alumni chapters host events around the country, while fellow Hornets join together to trek the globe. Others are involved in their home areas volunteering to help recruit ESU students of tomorrow, while today’s students are already giving of their time as Ambassadors.
Emporia State University wouldn’t be positioned so strongly without the support of our friends and alumni. We recognize this in our annual publication, the Honor Roll of Donors. To make a commitment of financial resources is to make a commitment to individual students through scholarships, to our world-class faculty through professorships, and to our campus through renovations and building projects. As a result, ESU can boast of the highest-quality educational experiences –– yet there’s still much more to accomplish, and together we can get it done.
Opportunities to serve abound, as a member of the Alumni Association board or the Foundation board, by making a donation, or by participating in programs like Hire-a-Hornet. At the point where ESU’s needs intersect with the desire to help, there you will find University Advancement.
