Cable Service

Each student room in the residence halls has cable access.
It is the student’s option to order cable service through the local cable company. The number for Cable One is 342-3535.

Meal Service Plan Changes

Reductions to your meal plan can only be made at very specific times: during enrollment for each semester and at the end of the fall semester. For the Fall 2007 semester, Meal Plan changes will be allowed August 13-15, 2007. For the Spring 2008 semester, Meal Plan changes will be allowed December 13-14, 2007 and January 14-16, 2008. All Meal Plan changes must be made at the Dining Services office on the dates listed from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. You may increase your Meal Plan at any time during the semester. Please come to the Dining Services office to complete the appropriate paperwork.

Hall/Floor Community Facilities

Many hall floors have study or TV lounges, as well as areas for food preparation. Students are responsible for cleaning up any personal trash and disposing of it properly. If the custodial staff needs to spend extra time cleaning the lounges or cooking areas, a cleaning charge may be assessed to the floor community.

Laundry Rooms

Coin-operated automatic washers and dryers are located in each housing area for the exclusive use of the residents. The university is not responsible for damage to, or theft of, laundry caused by student negligence.

Mail Service

Mail is delivered to the area Reception Centers between 10:00 a.m. and noon. It is distributed by the RCAs. Your mailbox has a corresponding number with your room. You should receive the combination to the mailbox when you check in. If you forget it or have trouble opening your mailbox, ask the RCA for help. Check your mailbox often for messages. You can also mail letters at the Reception Center. Here is your proper mailing address:

For the Morse Complex:
Your Name
Room Number and Hall Name
1200 Commercial St
Emporia, KS 66801-5091

For Towers Complex:
Your Name
Room Number and Hall Name
1200 Commercial St
Emporia, KS 66801-5090

The key to fast mail service is using the Zip+4 assigned to the complexes.

Refrigerators

You may bring your own refrigerator up to 5 cubic feet. One refrigerator per resident is allowed.

Telephone Service

All resident rooms have an active telephone jack. If residents bring a telephone with them, they can receive calls and place local calls using this phone line. Long distance calls require a calling card or other means of payment.

Vending Machines

If you lose money in any food or beverage machine, a refund will be processed at the Memorial Union Information Center

Reception Centers

For the convenience, assistance, and safety of residents in the halls, each complex has a Reception Center. During posted hours, these centers serve as information and resource hubs for residents and guests. Reception Center Assistants provide assistance with general questions, lockouts, mail services, maintenance requests, and safety/emergency situations.

Ethernet Service

All residence hall rooms are wired for Ethernet - your access to the internet. The North and South Tower has common area wireless capabilities. The cost for the service is included in the room fees.
