Semester vs. Quarter Credits

Colleges and universities that operate on a quarter basis (i.e., divide the academic year into three parts, exclusive of a summer session) award quarter credits.  ESU awards semester credit.  When a student transfers from a college on the quarter system the quarter credits are converted to semester credits.  This is accomplished by multiplying the quarter credits by two thirds.  For example, a student who earned 45 quarter hour credits would have earned 30 semester hours at ESU.
