The commons area separates the expansive multipurpose gymnasium area and the free weight room, multipurpose exercise room, and rest room areas. This area is designed to accommodate patrons by providing a social area with tables, chairs, and big screen televisions. Patrons can see the activities being held in all areas of the Recreation Center.

By design, this commons area can host parties and other activities, promoting a healthy lifestyle, while offering a social interaction alternative for the campus community on evenings and weekends. Some of the features of this area include Two (2) Big Screen Televisions, an Electronic Dart Board, a Pool Table, Soda and Snack Machines.
