PRE-ENGINEERING
Two-Year Pre-Engineering Program Recommended for Transfer to the University
of Kansas
This program has been designed for students planning to spend two years at Emporia
State University, and then transfer to the University of Kansas or an out-of-state school
to complete the requirements leading to the B.S. in engineering.

Humanities and Social Sciences:
Students will be required to complete 15-18 semester hours in the area of humanities and social science,
depending upon the field of engineering. In selecting courses, students should follow these guidelines:
A. At least one course designated as a humanties (HU) course, and 1 designated as a social science (SS)
course.
B. At least two courses offered by 1 department.
C. A maximum of four credits from such areas as band, chorus, orchestra, drawing, painting, and
sculpture may be acceptable, at the discretion of the respective departments.
