PRE-ENGINEERING

Two-Year Pre-Engineering Program Recommended for Transfer to Kansas State University

This program has been designed for students planning to spend two years at Emporia

State University, and then transfer to Kansas State University or an out-of-state school

to complete the requirements leading to the B.S. in engineering.

Humanities and Social Sciences:

Each engineering student at Kansas State University is required to complete fifteen hours of course work

in the areas of the humanities and social sciences.

Courses that may be taken at Emporia State University to fulfill these requirements include:

Art Only AR 225, 235

Economics Any course above EC103

English Any course above those required

Geography Any course

History At least 8 hours to receive any credit

Philosophy Any course except PI256

Political Science Any course

Psychology Any course

Sociology & Anthropology	Any course

Theatre Arts Only TA 125 accepted

From the areas listed above at least two courses must be taken at the 400 level or above. Not more than

three credit hours may be taken in applied music and/or applied art.

While no credit can be expected for PH530 (Heat and Thermodynamics), it is recommended that this

course be added, if possible, since the background gained would be a good preparation for the required

courses in Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics.

SP100, Interpersonal Communications, cannot be taken in place of SP101.
