On Thursday, October 19, 2006 five Emporia State University National Science Teachers Association Student Chapter members and faculty advisor Ken Thompson traveled to Omaha, Nebraska to attend the NSTA Midwest Area Conference on Science Education. The conference lasted through Saturday, Oct. 21. Members attending included: President Kristin Pentz, Vice-Pres./Program Chair Matt Peterie, Membership/Secretary/Treasurer Jennifer Hubbs, along with Erica Young and Robert Frederick. Attendance at this meeting was partially supported by the Associated Student Government and grant funds made available through the faculty advisor.
Commenting on his attendance at the conference, Matt Peterie stated: “Without the NSTA conference I never would have been exposed to this material” and “Since I had been to a NSTA conference before I knew they were great and had wanted to get back as soon and often as I could.”
