Welcome to the Department of Physical Sciences
The Department of Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics and Physical Sciences Education) provides educational experiences ranging from individual courses to pre-professional programs, certificate programs, baccalaureate degrees, and graduate degrees. Detailed descriptions of degree programs within each department may be accessed by clicking on the individual department webpages (above) and is also summarized under Programs of Study. Financial resources are available for new and continuing outstanding students (See Scholarships and Assistantships)
The Department of Physical Sciences manages ESU's Johnston Geology Museum, Peterson Planetarium, and the Science and Math Education Center. Faculty and Student research has been supported by the NASA JOVE (JOint VEnture) Program and a variety of other research grants. ESU is a member of the Kansas Space Grant Consortium of Universities.
Physics will be hosting the Arkansas-Oklahoma-Kansas (AOK) Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Regional Meeting will be hosted by Emporia State University (ESU) on October 7th and 8th, 2016. More information is available here: AAPT-AOK.
