  • Will the Banner Self Service Portal be available 24 hours a day?
    •  The Portal is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
  • What is the Banner Self Service Portal?
    •  A secure website with services and infomation specific for employees of Emporia State University.
  • How do I sign on the Buzzin Portal?
    •  You will have a specific employee signon assigned to you similar to your Novell signon.
    • If you do not have a Novell signon, the first time you sign in to the portal, your password will be your social security number. Your social security number will only be good for one time only. After you sign in to the portal, you will be immediately prompted to update your password. Remember to Logoff and shut down the browser when you are finished.
  • Who can access my information over the Internet?
    • You must enter your Employee information that should only be known to you. Unless you have compromised your Secret information to someone else, you are the only one who can access your Employee Portal. Remember to always "logoff" and close your browser.
  • How long will paycheck data be available through Self Service Banner after I terminate my employment with Emporia State?
    •   Paycheck data will be available for up to 30 days after the effective date of the termination.
  • I get paid by check rather than by direct deposit. Will my paycheck information still be available through Self Service Banner?
    •  All paycheck infomation will be available though your employee portal regardless of the method by which you receive your pay.
  • What if I forget my password?
    •  You need to contact the helpdesk at to reset your password.
  • When viewing my available paychecks, I found one that shows net pay of $0.00. Why would I be getting a paycheck for $0.00?
    • Adjustments Paychecks for $0.00 are not issued. However, there are a number of reasons a paycheck record for zero dollars might be created. Examples include paycheck adjustments that result in no change in net pay, or changes in earning and deductions such as summer health insurance premium charges. To deteremine the specific cause(s) for zero net paycheck, contact the payroll office (620) 341-5369. Or email or
