Dr. James Costello

Dr. Costello came to Kansas in 2000 from Gainesville, Florida where he worked as the Assistant Dean of Student Services for six years. His professional career began in 1976 when he secured employment as a vocational evaluator. His clinical experiences have included chronic pain therapist, rehabilitation counselor, and private practice rehabilitation specialist.
His research interests have varied and include psychosocial development, demand-side employment issues, and support services essential to secure success in transition from school to work environments. Currently, he is concerned with the employment outcomes of Rehabilitation Counseling graduate students.
Dr. Costello’s personal interests focus on family, family pets, and music. He is married and has a step-daughter. Also, he has two dogs, two cats, and several fish. His musical interests are generally focused on the blues, and he is constantly learning to play the guitar.
