Transferring Files to Printing Services
Submitting text to us saves time by eliminating the need to re-key the material. When providing text for our designers, do not try to fit copy in a specific size or format, such as columns. Please spell check and proof all text before sending it to the publications coordinator.
If submitting for our designer to work on, material on the disk should appear in the order you would like it to appear in the final publication. Please submit all copy at once. Normally, graphic designers will not work on a publication until they have all the pieces (all text, photos, and graphics). Include everything that is to be printed: all copy for the front and back covers, headings and subheadings, captions for photos, headings and copy for charts, and all appropriate mailing information.
When providing text for your publication, campus clients can provide the publications coordinator with copy via several methods:
- 3.5 floppy disk
- 100 or 250 Zip disk.
- CD
- Jump Drive
E-mailed files can be sent as attachments or if you are sending text, you may cut it and paste it into the body of your e-mail. You do not have to worry about putting text in columns because that formatting will be changed once we drop your text into our publishing program.
If you are sending an e-mail attachment of your file or bringing it to us using one of the above mentioned methods, we accept files in the following programs:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Publisher
- Quark Xpress
- InDesign
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- WordPerfect
Please submit a hard copy of your text, too.
Never submit hand-written copy.
Transferring Graphics
and Photos to Printing Services
Submit all photos and graphics when you submit the order for your job. Jobs will not be started until all elements are provided. When sending graphics, please submit them as an EPS file (if you are using a PC, look for the .EPS or .AI extensions). Please consult with us before sending any photographs.
If you acquire photographs from ESU Photography, please ask them to send them to Printing Services.
