Our Story
Printing Services can trace its roots back to 1908 when professor William Keller came to the university with a Washington hand press and started his printing operation in the basement of the original administration building. The relationship between faculty and the university printing plant became so strong that in 1920 five professors signed their names to a series of notes guaranteeing monthly payments for the purchase of a new linotype machine.
Through the years, Printing Services has played a major role in the university’s growth and development. Money from Printing Services was used to purchase the original Albert Taylor Hall pipe organ, develop the former picnic grounds on the northeast corner of the campus, and help build the football stadium. Printing Services remains valuable to the university. Our mission is not just putting ink on paper. It is recruiting, educating, and retaining students. The materials we produce are directly involved with bringing students to ESU, educating them while they are here, and helping the university retain them through degree completion.
